Scones

Key notes

Preparation Time:     20 minutes

Cooking Time:         10 minutes 

Ingredients

25g Margarine

200g Self Raising flour

Pinch salt

125mls Milk

1 egg

(25g sugar for sweet scones)

(50g cheese for cheese scones)

(50g dried fruit and 25g sugar for fruit scones)

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 230 degrees C

  2. Sieve flour and salt into a mixing bowl, run in fat using fingers

  3. Stir in most of the milk (not all), mixture should be fairly soft not sticky

  4. Flour table and knead lightly, press to 2cm thick

  5. Cut out 5cm circles, place on greased baking tray

  6. Brush with milk and bake for 10mins
